This article describes a schema/specification for integrating in an extensible fashion, markup vocabulary based on multiple XML Schemas into a single generalized interpreted multimedia object layout specification. The intended usage model for this schema is to define markup vocabulary for interactive digital television channels that enables the integration of other multimedia object and document markup standards in a modularized and extensible fashion with minimum technology specific portability constraints placed on middleware system architecture and code to support these standards. However the application of this specification is not limited to this usage model and can be envisioned to support generalized extensible integration of multimedia objects which possess markup vocabulary from separate XML Schemas and rendering technologies, into a single layout specification without replacing the native core markup and XML Schema for those technologies.
