This invention relates to a process for manufacturing an optically active (S)- 3,4-epoxybutyric acid salt and more particularly, to a method for manufactuing (S)-3,4-epoxybutyric acid salt expressed by formula (1), wherein an optically active (S)-3-hydroxybutyrolactone is employed to undergo an economical ring- opening reaction and epoxydation so that its chiral center is maintained in an original form. In said formula, R1 represents alkali metal atom, alkaline earth metal atom, alkylamine group or quarternary amine group.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un sel d'acide (S)-3,4-époxybutyrique et plus particulièrement un procédé de fabrication d'un sel d'acide (S)-3,4-époxybutyrique exprimé par la formule (1). Dans cette dernière, un (S)-3-hydroxybutyrolactone présentant une activité optique est utilisé pour subir une réaction d'ouverture de chaîne économique et une époxydation, de telle sorte que son centre chiral conserve sa forme originale. Dans la formule R¿1? représente un atome de métal alcalin, un atome de métal terreux alcalin, un groupe d'alkylamine ou un groupe d'amine quaternaire.
