The invention relates to a novel process for the solvent-free preparation of polyaddition compounds containing uretdione groups in intensive mixers, especially in single-screw or multiscrew extruders. The process providing polyaddition compounds having melting points in the range of 40°C to 130°C and containing free, partially or totally blocked isocyanate groups or free, partially or totally blocked isocyanate groups. The process includes the steps of reacting in an intensive mixer at least one polyisocyanate containing uretdione groups and a hydroxyl- containing polymer at temperatures between 110°C and 190°C with short mixing times.
