The present invention is a method and apparatus for a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (100) in which a breathing gas is supplied to a flow loop (104) from two separate gas sources (110, 112) each having a different oxygen fraction, and each controlled by separate mass flow controllers (120, 122) having variable flow rates. The mass controller flow rates are adaptively adjustable to deliver gas at variable flow rates which depend solely on a function of depth.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif destinés à un appareil de respiration sous l'eau (100) dans lequel un gaz respiratoire est fourni à une boucle de débit (104), à partir de deux sources séparées (110, 112) de gaz; chaque source possède une fraction d'oxygène différente et est commandée par un dispositif, séparé et à débit variable, de régulation de débit massique (120, 122). Les débits massiques peuvent être réglés de manière adaptative afin de fournir un gaz à des débits variables, lesquels dépendent uniquement d'une fonction de la pression ambiante environnante.
