ABSTRACT A solid powdered peroxyhydrate is provided which is an adduct of hydrogen peroxide and a polymeric electrolyte, said polymeric electrolyte having the formula: Image (I) wherein Y is selected from CO2-M+ and C6H4SO3-M+; X and Z are independently selected from H, OCH3, CO2R8 and Y; R1 through R7 is independently selected form H and C1-C3 alkyl; R8 is C1-C3 alkyl; m and n are the same or different integers ranging from o to 20,000; and m+n is at least 3.
