The invention provides a new plug and play mechanism for electronic medical devices for telemedicine applications across Internet. The invention offers a user- friendly mechanism for automatic discovery and configuration of medical devices at the patient end so that important patient's real time medical data can be transferred to a virtual remote control panel at the physician end via internet/intranet. The invention also allows the physician to remotely control and adjust various parameters of the connected medical devices in order to obtain the best measurement results. The above feature allows the physician to examine the patient remotely with the support of the teleoperated medical devices in any arbitrary location and in a heterogeneous network environment without any prior knowledge about IP addresses of the Remote Control Panel and the medical devices under control.
