A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for predicting initial gas production in a well (200). A cumulative amount of each gas species present in a gas sample taken from the well (200) is identified. A set of data points corresponding to the cumulative amount of each gas species (804-814) present in a gas sample for each gas species (804-814) is generated (1108). A Y-intercept value for each gas species is calculated (1114) based on the set of data points. A projected initial amount of the given gas species produced from the well (200) is presented. The projected initial amount of the given gas species produced from the well (200) is determined (1116) using the Y-intercept value. The Y-intercept value indicates a cumulative amount of gas for a given gas species (804-814).
La présente invention concerne un procédé mis en oeuvre par ordinateur, un appareil et un produit programme informatique permettant de prédire la production initiale de gaz dans un puits (200). Le procédé selon l'invention consiste : à identifier la quantité totale de chaque espèce gazeuse présente dans un échantillon de gaz extrait du puits (200); à générer (1108) un jeu de points de données correspondant à la quantité totale de chacune des espèces gazeuses (804-814) présentes dans un échantillon de gaz; à calculer (1114) une valeur de point d'intersection avec l'axe Y pour chaque espèce gazeuse sur la base du jeu de points de données; à présenter une quantité initiale projetée de l'espèce gazeuse donnée extraite du puits (200); à déterminer (1116) la quantité initiale projetée de l'espèce gazeuse donnée extraite du puits (200) à l'aide de la valeur de point d'intersection avec l'axe Y, cette dernière indiquant la quantité totale de gaz pour une espèce gazeuse donnée (804- 814).
