A sensor system for the detection or measurement relating to a chemical environment, comprising an optical fibre, an optical source for launching light into the optical fibre, the sensor system being adapted to let a gas, e.g. hydrogen derived from said chemical environment, diffuse into the optical fibre. The gas thereby alters the optical properties of the optical fibre.The system comprises optical signal detection and signal analysing means adapted for determining changes in the optical properties of the optical fibre due to the in-diffusion of the said gas. The signal analysis means is adapted to derive from the determined changes at least one characteristic value representing the chemical environment.
L'invention concerne un système de détecteur servant à effectuer des détections et des mesures concernant un environnement chimique. Ledit système comprend une fibre optique, une source optique permettant d'introduire de la lumière dans la fibre optique, et il est conçu pour laisser un gaz, tel que l'hydrogène dérivé de cet environnement chimique, se diffuser dans la fibre optique. Ce gaz modifie donc les propriétés optiques de la fibre optique. Ce système comprend un dispositif de détection de signaux optiques et d'analyse des signaux élaboré pour déterminer des changements des propriétés optiques de ladite fibre optique provoqués par la diffusion du gaz. Le dispositif d'analyse de signaux est conçu pour dériver à partir des changements déterminés au moins une valeur caractéristique représentant l'environnement chimique.
