Various materials have been used as rope in skipping or jump ropes; the skippingrope in this invention uses a metallic cable and in this document I refer to it as a skipping cable. Many people will find it easier to skip with as it does not tend to collapse in-flight as lighter and more flexible ropes. Skipping with a heavier cable also gives you a more demanding upper body workout while still providing the lower body and cardiovascular benefits common to this exercise. Although it can be used on numerous indoor surfaces the skipping cable is specially suited for extensive outdoor skip jogging; that is, skipping rope while simultaneously jogging. Lighter ropes are more likely to get blown off course on windy days and many of them quickly wear out on the more abrasive surfaces found outdoors on roads, parking lots and sidewalks. The skipping cable has user replaceable plastic protection tubes which protect the cable making it suitable for prolonged outdoor skipping. You can even skip jog with it on short cut grass and other more rugged outdoor terrain.
