ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A system for retrieving status information from a plurality of status sites each having at least one monitorable condition, comprises a pulse generator for generating a sequence of pulses, a conducting path for coupling the pulse generator with the status sites, and a device for determining, on the conductingpath, the appearing waveform of at least one of the pulses according to the status of one of the monitorable conditions associated with the at least one of the pulses, whereby the status of the one of the monitorable conditions can be recognized byobserving, on the conducting path, the appearing waveform of the at least one of the pulses so that the status information respecting the monitorable condition at status sites can be retrieved on the conducting path.
