APPARATUS FOR APPLYING LIQUID OCATING ONTO THE EXTERNAL SURFACE OF THE WALL OF A MAIN PIPELINE A B S T R A C T The apparatus includes a drive carriage adapted to be mounted on the pipeline and carrying a container for the supply of the liquid coating, communicating with a hollow distributor, as well as a trough and a receptacle, suspended from the distributor on rods and adapted to be positioned un- der the pipeline to receive the superfluous liquid coating overflowing the external surface of the wall of the piepline. The carriage further supports a s???? pump for supplying the liquid coating from the receptacle into the distributor. The hollow distributor has two branch pipes communicating therewith through the outlets made in the leading end wall of the distributor, in the direction of the progress of the coat- ing process, the branch pipes having their outlet ends facing the side portions of the pipeline wall. Furthermore, the inlet connecting the distributor with the container has mounted the- rein a maturing valve, while the outlets of the distributor are associated with gate valves. The apparatus is primarily intended for operation with pipelines of a diameter in excess of 500 mm. It offer a higher productivity than the ?ither?? known similar apparatus, ensures application of a continuous uniform layer of the coating and provides for either considerable reduction or complete elimination of the loss of the liquid coating in operation of the apparatus.
