The invention relates to a method and a device for creating a hole (2) on the outer circumference (3) of a hollow profile (4) which is circumferentially closed and under an internal high pressure, in which method, before the hole-punching, a punch (10) which is integrated in the internal high pressure forming mold (5) such that it can be guided butts against the location of the hole (2) to be created and, when it leaves its position of abutment, creates a punched slug (21) there alongside the hole (2). To make it possible for holes to be punched at virtually any desired location in hollow profiles (4) in the internal high- pressure forming mold (5) in a simple way, it is proposed that the hole-punching takes place by the punch (10) being moved in the guiding bore (9) of the forming mold (5) by the internal high pressure acting together with a driving element (11, 24), the body axis (12, 25) of which lies approximately at 90° in relation to the hole punch axis (34) and which for its part is driven in a rotary manner and/or translatory manner in the axial direction, the punch (10) being acted on on the side facing away from the impression (7) by driving contours of the driving element (11, 24).
