A supporting device for holding an ampoule from which a liquid medication is to be withdrawn using a syringe. The device comprises a supporting base, a holding means comprising a body having a chamber for seating the ampoule with a first opening at one end to permit insertion of the ampoule and at the opposite end a second opening which is restricted in circumference to permit passage of the ampoule neck through the opening but not the ampoule, a locking means to prevent removal of the ampoule through the first opening and an arm extending upwardly from the supporting base to the holding means to elevate the holding means. This arrangement facilitates the insertion of the needle of a syringe into the neck of the ampoule, which is securely held by the holding means in an inverted position, thus overcoming the need to manually hold the ampoule while filling a syringe.
