The invention relates to a method for the chromatographic purification of preproinsulins, according to which higher-molecular substances are separated from an aqueous solution of the preproinsulin by means of a first chromatography on an anion exchanger in through-flow mode and a subsequent second chromatography on a cation exchanger in adsorption mode, and a method for the production of insulins, which comprises the method for producing preproinsulins.
