This invention relates to a unique space truss structure for a bridge. The space truss structure includes (1) at least three upper chords, the inner upper chord being in the same plane as and spaced apart from the outer upper chords, (ii) at least two lower chords, (iii) inner diagonal bracing members extending transversely between the lower chords and the inner upper chord, (iv) outer diagonal bracing members extending longitudinally between the lower chords and the outer upper chords, (v) upper horizontal bracing members extending transversely between the upper outer chords and the upper inner chord, (vi) lower horizontal bracing members extending transversely between the lower chords, and (vii) means for joining the chords and bracing members. The chords, the horizontal and diagonal bracing members provide a longitudinal and transverse triangular pattern within the space truss structure. The truss structure has open spaces throughout its longitudinal and transverse length. A deck covers the chords.
