The present invention relates to a double-stranded ribonucleic acid (dsRNA) for inhibiting the expression of an anti-apoptotic gene, comprising an antisense strand having a nucleotide sequence which is less that 25 nucleotides in length and which is substantially complementary to at least a part of an apoptotic gene, such as a Bcl gene. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the dsRNA together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; methods for treating diseases caused by the expression of an anti-apoptotic gene using the pharmaceutical composition; and methods for inhibiting the expression of an anti-apoptotic gene in a cell.
L'invention concerne un acide ribonucléique bicaténaire (ARNds) permettant d'inhiber l'expression d'un gène anti-apoptotique, comprenant un brin antisens présentant une séquence nucléotide qui est inférieure à 25 nucléotides dans la longueur et qui est sensiblement complémentaire à au moins une partie d'un gène apoptotique, tel qu'un gène Bcl. L'invention concerne également une composition pharmaceutique comprenant l'ARNds ainsi qu'une porteuse pharmaceutiquement acceptable ; des procédés pour traiter les maladies associées à l'expression d'un gène anti-apoptotique au moyen de la composition pharmaceutique ; et des procédés pour inhiber l'expression d'un gène anti-apoptotique dans une cellule.
