A system for automating activity relating to ordering health-related products using: a central database subsystem which stores patient-related information and information related to ordering health care products, a provider subsystem which is accessible to health care provider, and a product order subsystem which is accessible to an entity which processes or fills orders for health related products. Based on the information stored in the database of the central database subsystem, the system automatically transmits information to the provider subsystem. The health care provider can then analyze the information transmitted for the need to take action relating to ordering health care products and communicate information relating to that need back to the central database subsystem. The central database subsystem can then automatically transmit information relating to ordering health related products to the provider subsystem.
