A computer program embodied in a computer readable medium in a mobile station MS includes instructions to display a first identifier, such as a song title, associated with a first media (music or video) file and a second identifier identified with a second media file. The first identifier indicates that the first media file is stored in the MS and the second identifier indicates that the file is not stored within the MS. Five such identifiers are disclosed, with functionality to up/download the media files one or more at a time from a PC or a networked server. Playlists and albums may be similarly indicated in their identifiers. The user is enabled to create and edit playlists on the MS without regard to what media files are stored on the MS. The MS may store file identifiers for the database maintained on the PC, a large-scale database maintained at a media service server, or a portion thereof. A mobile station is also described.
La présente invention porte sur un programme informatique intégré dans un support lisible par ordinateur dans une station mobile (MS) et comprenant des instructions ordonnant l'affichage d'un premier identifiant, tel que le titre d'une chanson, associé à un premier fichier de contenu multimédia (musique ou vidéo) et d'un deuxième identifiant associé à un deuxième fichier de contenu multimédia. Le premier identifiant indique que le premier fichier de contenu multimédia est stocké dans la station mobile tandis que le deuxième identifiant indique que le deuxième fichier n'est pas stocké dans la station mobile. Cinq identifiants de ce type sont décrits, lesquels peuvent importer/télécharger un ou plusieurs fichiers de contenu multimédia simultanément d'un ordinateur personnel ou d'un serveur en réseau. Des listes d'écoute et des albums peuvent être indiqués de la même manière dans leurs identifiants. L'utilisateur peut créer et modifier les listes d'écoute sur la station mobile indépendamment des fichiers de contenu multimédia stockés sur la station mobile. La station mobile peut stocker les identifiants de fichiers pour la base de données gérée sur l'ordinateur personnel, une base de données à grande échelle gérée au niveau d'un serveur de service multimédia ou une partie de celle-ci.
