A stent having a polymeric coating for controllably releasing an included active agent. The polymeric coating inl-cudes a blend of a first polymeric material, which if alone, would release the agent at a first, higher rate, and a second polymeric material, which if alone would release the agent at a second, lower rate over a longer time period. One stent coating utilizes a faster releasing hydrophilic polymeric material and a slower releasing hydrophobic material. One stent coating includes a blend of a faster releasing PLA-PEO copolymer and a slower releasing PLA-PCL copolymer. One active agent is Taxol. One use of the Taxol deliv-ering stent is to inhibit restenosis following angioplasty.
L'invention concerne un stent comportant un revêtement polymère permettant de libérer lentement un agent actif compris dans le stent. Ce revêtement polymère comprend un mélange d'une première matière polymère qui, si elle était seule, libérerait l'agent à une première vitesse, plus élevée, et d'une seconde matière polymère qui, si elle était seule, libérerait l'agent à une seconde vitesse, moins élevée, pendant une durée plus longue. Un revêtement de stent utilise une matière polymère hydrophile à libération plus rapide et une matière hydrophobe à libération plus lente. Un revêtement de stent comporte un mélange d'un copolymère PLA-PEO à libération plus rapide et d'un copolymère PLA-PCL à libération plus lente. Un agent actif est le Taxol. Une utilisation du stent libérant du Taxol est destinée à inhiber la resténose post-angioplastie.
