Coating a brazed joint with a powdered wicking agent, preferably mixed with a fugitive liquid binder to form an adherent slurry, then heating the joint to allow the brazing alloy to melt and be drawn into the powdered wicking agent by capillary action. After cooling, the powder and braze alloy are mixed together to form a loosely consolidated mass which can be readily removed by mechanical and/or chemical means so that the components can then be separated for repair or reuse.
