Dans un drain pourvu d'un casing perforé, on injecte un fluide sous pression en différents emplacements par une modification sélective de la position des points d'injection par rapport à ces emplacements au moyen d'un tube. On fait varier la position des orifices d'injection et/ou leur aire, par ouverture sélective de vannes ou par déplacement d'un tube d'injection. On peut également faire varier la densité de perforations du casing et/ou du tube d'injection. On réalise un balayage du réservoir traversé par le drain en injectant par exemple un fluide gazeux chaud tel que de la vapeur d'eau sous pression et on choisit par exemple la densité de perforations d'un tube pour que la quantité de chaleur transférée à la formation soit sensiblement constante le long du drain. Application au balayage d'un réservoir pétrolifère par exemple.
