An image quality correction circuit having a variable gain amplifier for amplifying an extracted high-frequency component of a luminance signal in such a manner that the gain thereof is increased when detected color density is high, and is reduced when the detected color density is low, and a slice circuit for slicing the outputted amplitude of the variable gain amplifier at a prescribed value, wherein a corrected luminance signal is obtained by combining an image quality correction signal outputted from the slice circuit with the luminance signal to be corrected.

L'invention est un circuit de correction de la qualité des images qui est doté d'un amplificateur à gain variable utilisé pour amplifier une composante haute fréquence extraite d'un signal de luminance. Dans ce circuit, le gain de l'amplificateur augmente ou diminue selon que la densité de couleur détectée est élevée ou faible. Le circuit de l'invention comprend également un circuit d'écrêtage à une valeur prescrite de l'amplitude du signal de sortie de l'amplificateur à gain variable, ce qui permet d'obtenir un signal de luminance corrigé en combinant le signal de correction de la qualité des images produit par ce circuit d'écrêtage avec le signal de luminance à corriger.
