An orally administrable ribavirin composition comprises an andvirally effective amount of ribavirin and an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable disintegrant wherein the composition is substantially free of another ribavirin polymorphic form, and wherein more than about 80% by weight of the ribavirin dissolves in water in 30 minutes, and wherein the disintegration time of the composition in water is less than 10 minutes.
