In accordance with the principles of the present invention, the above and other objects are realized in an apparatus and method for superimposing text information on a video background signal. The apparatus includes means to input the video background signal (1), a text generator (19) for generating a text signal containing the text information to be superimposed on the video background signal, and automatic contrast circuit means (15) for selectively controlling the brightness of the text signal to maintain at least a predetermined minimum contrast between the brightness of the text signal and the brightness of the video background signal as the brightness of the video background signal varies.
L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé de superposition d'informations textuelles sur un signal de fond vidéo. L'appareil comporte un organe d'introduction du signal de fond vidéo (1), un générateur de texte (19) générant un signal de texte contenant les informations textuelles à superposer sur le signal de fond vidéo et un circuit de contraste automatique (15) destiné à régler le signal de luminosité du texte de façon à maintenir au moins un contraste minimum prédéterminé entre le signal de luminosité du texte et le signal de luminosité du fond vidéo à l'occasion des variations du signal de luminosité du fond vidéo.
