A needle guard includes a clip with a canting wail to grip the needle shaft and a distal wall to block the tip thereof, wherein the canting and distal walls may be interconnected by an angled strut, a spring member, such as a leaf spring, may have a portion extending past an edge of the strut to bias the clip to grip the needle shaft, and the distal wall may be or include a stylus and have an L-shape to define a lip to help block the needle tip. The clip may have a depending heel to help pivot the clip about a ledge to grip the needle shaft. A needle support may be provided to limit flexure of the needle which might otherwise allow the needle to come loose from the clip. Arrangements for limiting rotation of the needle hub and needle guard housing are provided, as is a protective shroud to reduce the risk of inadvertent activation of the needle guard. Further, the needle guard may be used with a catheter assembly. Also provided is an improved duckbill release mechanism.
L'invention porte sur une garde d'aiguille comportant un crochet présentant une paroi inclinée coinçant la tige de l'aiguille et une paroi distale en arrêtant la pointe, les deux parois étant reliées par une lame oblique. Un ressort par exemple à lame peut présenter une partie dépassant l'un des bords de la lame et rappelant le crochet pour coincer la tige de l'aiguille. La paroi distale du crochet peut comporter une pointe en L dont la lèvre bloque l'extrémité de l'aiguille. Le crochet comprend un talon favorisant le pivotement du crochet autour d'une butée pour coincer la tige de l'aiguille. Un support d'aiguille peut être prévu pour en limiter la flexion et l'empêcher de sortir du crochet. On a par ailleurs prévu des éléments limitant la rotation de la tête d'aiguille et un boîtier protecteur limitant le risque d'activation accidentelle de la garde d'aiguille. En outre, la garde d'aiguille peut être utilisée avec un cathéter. L'invention porte également sur un mécanisme de déclenchement amélioré en bec de canard.
