L'invention concerne une coquille isolante conçue de mousse de polyuréthane recouverte d'une membrane de protection de polyuréa. La coquille est formée de deux sections ou plus entièrement recouvertes de la membrane de protection qui permet de protéger la mousse contre l'absorption de l'eau, le poinçonnement engendré par le matériel de remplissage dans l'excavation et l'agrippement du sol à la structure à isoler. La coquille isolante préfabriquée est utilisée pour isoler contre le gel des structures ou des équipements internes ou externes au sol.
