ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus and method for assisting in the selection of color combinations. The present invention discloses an associative memory system having particular application in the design of color interfaces for computer systems. Utilizing an associative memory system, a color interface may be designed based on the preferences supplied by a user of the computer system. The associative memory is implemented as a neural network which may be generally described as a hybrid of an auto-associative memory systems and a multi-layer neural network.
