The invention relates to a fuel cell(2) or a fuel cell arrangement (1) comprising a plurality of fuel cells (2), and enables reliable monitoring of the operatability of each/said fuel cell (2) using particularly simple means. According to the invention, a proportion (12) of the output current (1) provided by each/said fuel cell (2) is guided via an optically active element (12). The degree of operatability of the fuel cell (2) can be deduced from an output signal (A) produced by the optically active element (12).
L'invention concerne une pile à combustible (2) ou un ensemble de piles à combustible (1) comprenant une pluralité de piles à combustible (2). L'objectif de l'invention est de faire fonctionner une telle pile à combustible ou un tel ensemble de piles à combustible de telle sorte qu'avec des moyens particulièrement simples, il soit possible d'effectuer une surveillance fiable de l'aptitude au fonctionnement de la pile à combustible ou de chaque pile à combustible (2). A cet effet, selon l'invention, pour la pile à combustible ou pour chaque pile à combustible (2), une partie (I2) du courant de sortie (I) fournie par la pile à combustible est conduite de façon à passer par un élément (12) optiquement actif, le degré de l'aptitude au fonctionnement de la pile à combustible (2) étant déterminé sur la base d'un signal de sortie (A) produit par ledit élément (12) optiquement actif.
