Disclosed is a method for modifying a surface of a substrate to make it bacteria-repellent and blood-compatible. The method comprises acting an SO2 plasma on a hydrophilic surface of the substrate. SO2 can be excited to plasma formation by microwave energy. A product having a surface modified by this method can be used for hygienic, industrial, foodstuffs or biotechnological purposes as well as for medical purposes.

Méthode permettant de modifier la surface d'un substrat pour la rendre bactérifuge et hémocompatible. La méthode consiste à faire réagir un plasma de SO2 sur une surface hydrophile du substrat. Le SO2 peut être excité pour former un plasma au moyen de l'énergie micro-onde. Un produit dont une surface a été modifiée au moyen de cette méthode peut être utilisé à des fins hygiéniques, industrielles ou biotechnologiques ou alimentaires ainsi qu'à des fins médicales.
