ABSTRACT A device is disclosed for separating solid particles from a gas flow containing solids, in particular, for separating coarse-grained solid particles. The device has a housing which is adapted for flow therethrough of the gas flow to be cleaned and which is provided with an outlet for solids. An essentially rotationally symmetrical gas conducting and whirling body is situated at a distance from the inner wall of the housing and is provided with at least one helical baffle adapted to cause rotation of the gas flow. A dip tube near the inlet of the separator is used to increase the efficiency of separation.
