A physical automatic repeat request method implemented by a base station (30) having a transmitter (38) and a receiver (52). A physical layer, at the transmitter (38) receives data and formats the received data into packets having a particular encoding/data modulation. The physical layer transmits the packets and retransmits packets upon failure to receive a corresponding acknowledgment (56) for a given packet. An adaptive modulation and coding controller in the transmitter collects retransmission statistics (60) and adjusts the particular encoding/data modulation using the collected statistics (62).
L'invention concerne un procédé de demande de répétition automatique physique mis en oeuvre par une station de base (30) possédant un émetteur (38) et un récepteur (52). Une couche physique, au niveau de l'émetteur (38) reçoit les données et les formate en paquets présentant une modulation de données/codage particulière. La couche physique transmet les paquets et retransmet les paquets lorsqu'un accusé de réception (56) correspondant à un paquet donné n'est pas reçu. Une modulation adaptative et un contrôleur de codage dans l'émetteur collecte les statistiques de retransmission (60) et ajuste la modulation de données/codage particulière à l'aide des statistiques collectées (62).
