A gear mechanism, for example for controlling the rotation of vehicle rear- view mirrors, comprises a first sun gear (1) driving a first set of planet gears (5, 6, 7, 8) which mesh with a first ring gear (9), a second set of planet gears (5, 6, 7, 8) of different diameter to the gears of the first set, the gears in the second set meshing with a second ring gear (10) but not with the first sun gear, the first and second ring gears being located side-by-side and relatively rotatable, wherein the each planet gear in the first set of planet gears is rigidly connected to a respective one of the planet gears in the second set so as to be rotatable therewith. Various devices for detecting the relative angle between a tractor and trailer vehicle so as to control the steering of a mirror are also disclosed, as well as means for zeroing the mirror position automatically.
L'invention porte sur un mécanisme d'engrenages servant, par exemple, à contrôler la rotation des rétroviseurs d'un véhicule. Ce mécanisme comprend une première roue solaire (1) qui entraîne un premier ensemble de roues planétaires (5, 6, 7, 8) qui viennent en prise avec une première couronne (9), un second ensemble de roues planétaires (5, 6, 7, 8) de diamètre différent par rapport aux engrenages du premier ensemble. Les engrenages du second ensemble viennent en prise avec une seconde couronne (10), non avec la première roue solaire, la première et la seconde roue solaire étant situées côte à côte et pouvant pivoter l'une par rapport à l'autre, chaque roue planétaire du premier ensemble de roues planétaires étant fixement connectée à l'une des roues planétaires respectives du second ensemble afin de pouvoir pivoter. L'invention concerne aussi plusieurs dispositifs de détection de l'angle relatif entre un tracteur de remorque et une remorque afin de contrôler la direction d'un rétroviseur, ainsi que des moyens permettant de replacer automatiquement le rétroviseur en position initiale.
