The invention relates to the use of an aromatase inhibitor for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition to be used in the treatment of i) detrusor urethral sphincter dyssynergia in men, wherein said detrusor urethral sphincter dyssynergia is urethral dysfunction which is due to decreased androgen to estrogen ratio in the patient, or ii) decreased androgen to estrogen ratio in men. Furthermore, the invention also concerns a method for the in vivo investigation of the influence of a certain condition on the urinary function of male individuals using an animal model of male rodents wherein said rodents have been subjected to said condition, anesthetized, provided with a pressure transducer connected to an infusion cannula inserted in the bladder, a flow probe inserted in the distal urethra and connected to a flow meter, infused with a solution into the bladder to induce micturition, and wherein the bladder pressure and urinary flow are registered as function of time. According to the invention, electrodes are attached to muscles of the lower urinary tract. The electrical activity of said muscles are registered simultaneously with the registering of the bladder pressure and the urinary flow.
L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'un inhibiteur d'aromatase pour l'élaboration d'une composition pharmaceutique destinée au traitement des affections suivantes: i) asynergie détrusor-sphincter externe de l'urètre chez les sujets masculins, ladite asynergie étant un dysfonctionnement urétral imputable à une baisse du rapport androgène/estrogène, ou ii) baisse dudit rapport chez les mêmes sujets. L'invention concerne en outre un procédé d'investigation in vivo permettant de déterminer l'influence d'un état donné sur la fonction urinaire des sujets masculins, en utilisant un modèle animal choisi parmi les rongeurs mâles, lesquels sont soumis à l'état considéré, anesthésiés, dotés d'un transducteur de pression relié à une canule pour perfusion introduite dans la vessie, d'une sonde de débit introduite dans la partie distale de l'urètre et reliée à un indicateur de débit, puis perfusés dans la vessie avec une solution induisant la miction, moyennant quoi on enregistre la pression de la vessie et le débit urinaire en fonction du temps. On fixe des électrodes aux muscles du bas appareil urinaire, dont l'activité électrique est enregistrée en concomitance avec la pression de la vessie et le débit urinaire.
