The invention relates to a process for preparing an imidized polymer in a mixing or kneading device, by a reaction of a mixture, comprising a polymer, containing anhydride groups or derivatives thereof and an aromatic polyamine compound, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of an acid. With this process an imidized polymer can be obtained with a reduced amount of incomplete reacted anhydride groups with respect to the anhydride groups originally present in the polymer as well as a low amount of free and amid- bound aromatic polyamine. The invention further relates to a solid compound, and in particular a solid multifunctional viscosity modifier comprising a polymer comprising between 0.1 and 10 functional groups per 1000 C-atoms, the functional groups comprising aromatic amine based imide groups, wherein the ratio of imide groups with respect to the functional groups is more than 0.85, preferably more than 0.90 and most preferably more than 0.95 and to a lubricating oil, comprising the multifunctional viscosity modifier according to the invention, wherein the amount of low molecular weight aromatic polyamine in the oil is smaller than 10 ppm.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de préparer un polymère imidisé dans un dispositif de mélange ou de malaxage, par réaction d'un mélange comprenant un polymère qui contient des groupes anhydride ou des dérivés de ces derniers et un composé polyamine aromatique. La réaction est effectuée en présence d'un acide. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir un polymère imidisé qui présente un taux réduit de groupes anhydride ayant incomplètement réagi par rapport aux groupes anhydride à présents l'origine dans le polymère ainsi qu'un faible taux de polyamine aromatique libre et liée à l'amide. L'invention concerne également un composé solide et notamment un modificateur de viscosité solide et multifonctionnel comprenant un polymère qui contient entre 0,1 et 10 groupes fonctionnels par 1000 atomes de C, ces groupes fonctionnels comprenant des groupes imide à base d'amine aromatique, le ratio entre les groupes imide et les groupes fonctionnels étant supérieur à 0,85, de préférence supérieur à 0,90 et idéalement supérieur à 0,95. L'invention concerne en outre une huile lubrifiante comprenant le modificateur de viscosité multifonctionnel selon l'invention, le taux de polyamine aromatique de faible masse moléculaire dans l'huile étant inférieur à 10 ppm.
