Relatively small diameter threaded anchor posts (70) are directly threaded into a jawbone matrix, and adjustable extension units (10) interconnect the posts (70). The extension units (10) are fitted to the implanted anchors (70) and arranged into a rigid structure for use as the foundation of a fixed or removable dental prosthesis. The construction of the prosthesis can be in situ, i.e. from self-curing moldable plastics and/or stock teeth.
