The present invention provides a method of detecting HCV genotype 1 (HCV-1) in a sample which is based on the finding that the 5' non-coding region (NCR) of the HCV genome is conserved between HCV-1 quasi-species but not between other HCV subgroups. The method comprises subjecting the sample to an amplification reaction using at least one primer which anneals specifically to the 5' noncoding region (5' NCR) of the HCV-1 genome, and detecting the product of the amplification reaction. Kits and primers suitable for carrying out the method are also provided.
L'invention concerne un procédé de détection d'un VHC (virus de l'hépatite C) du génotype 1 (HCV-1) dans un échantillon basé sur la conclusion que la région 5' non codante (NCR) du génome VHC est conservée entre les quasi-espèces de HCV-1 et non pas entre d'autres sous-groupes du VHC. Ledit procédé consiste à soumettre l'échantillon à une réaction d'amplification au moyen d'au moins une amorce qui s'hybride en particulier à la région 5' non codante (5 NCR) du génome HCV-1, et à détecter le produit de la réaction d'amplification. Des trousses et des amorces appropriées pour exécuter le procédé sont également décrites.
