The invention relates to a roller group for a calender provided for processing material webs. The roller group is comprised of at least two rollers respectively having a roller body made of a cast or forged ferrous material. At least one of the roller bodies is made of a chilled cast iron or a chilled cast form. One or more rollers can comprise a covering made of an elastic material, for example, a polymeric plastic, Although the outer diameter of the rollers can vary, the deflection of the rollers is essentially the same when solely supported in the antifriction bearings thereof. In order to produce corresponding rollers, the actual average moduli of elasticity of all roller bodies are measured and the inner diameters of the central drilled holes are, in particular, calculated according to this measurement after the essential processing steps of the roller bodies i.e., for example, after casting, rough turning, predrilling and optionally, after drilling peripheral holes. The invention also relates to methods for influencing the deflection of the rollers in a targeted manner by selecting corresponding materials which depict the relationships of material structures in the roller body, or by the targeted placement of ballast in the central drilled hole or also in specific peripheral drilled holes of the roller bodies.
