100-800 nm ReBCO films with critical current density (Jc) values in excess of 1 MA/cm2 were fabricated from aqueous nitrate precursor solutions with additives. Additives such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) and sucrose were selected to suppress crystallization of barium nitrate. This produces higher concentration solutions resulting in thicker crack-free single layers. Additional water-soluble viscosity modifiers, such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or cellulose-derivatives, were used to increase thickness and allow wetting of ceramic surfaces. Water vapor present at higher temperatures during heat-treatment damaged the films, while the role of water vapor at lower temperatures is still under investigation.

L'invention concerne des films de ReBCO de 100 à 800 nm dont les valeurs de densité de courant critique (Jc) dépassent 1 MA/cm2. Lesdits films sont fabriqués à partir de solutions aqueuses de précurseur de nitrate contenant des additifs, polyéthylèneglycol (PEG) et saccharose, par exemple, sélectionnés pour supprimer la cristallisation du nitrate de baryum. Ces solutions à concentration supérieure produisent une couche plus épaisse et exempte de fissure. Des modificateurs de viscosité hydrosolubles supplémentaires, comme de l'alcool polyvinylique (PVA), ou des dérivés de cellulose, sont utilisés pour augmenter l'épaisseur et permettre un mouillage de surfaces de céramique. La vapeur d'eau produite par un traitement thermique à températures élevées endommage les films, tandis que l'effet de la vapeur d'eau à températures inférieures est en cours d'examen.
