A method for generating image dependent watermarks is described. The method is based on a novel magnitude coding technique which renders the watermark dependent of the image. In addition, it is shown how to incorporate constraints on the visibility of the watermark as well as constraints arising from the fact that pixels must be specified within the range 0 and 255. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the method is flexible and easily applicable to any combination of transform and/or spatial domain watermarks and/or constraints.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de créer des filigranes numériques dépendant de l'image. Le procédé de l'invention fait appel à une nouvelle technique de codage d'amplitude qui rend le filigrane dépendant de l'image. L'invention permet en outre d'incorporer des contraintes dans la visibilité du filigrane et des contraintes dues au fait que les pixels doivent être spécifiés dans la palette 0-255. Le procédé de l'invention est flexible et peut facilement être appliqué à toute combinaison de filigranes et/ou contraintes dans les transformées et/ou dans le domaine spatial.
