Disclosed is an aqueous dispersion of an amorphous urethanized unsaturated polyester resin based on a certain Dicidol isomers and an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid. The Dicidol isomers are 3,8-bis (hydroxymethyl) tricyclo [5.2.1.0 2,6] decane, 4,8-bis (hydroxymethyl) tricyclo [5.2.1.0 2,6] decane and 5,8-bis(hydroxymethyljtricyclo[5.2.1.0 2,6] decane and at least mol% of an alcohol component is the Dicidol isomers mixture. The aqueous dispersion has a non-volatile content of 20-60% by weight, a solvent content of 0-60% by weight, a pH of 5-9.5 and a viscosity at 20°C of 20-500 mPas.
