A breakpoint unit contains a memory circuit (30, 50) which monitors digital signals (B1, ....., Bn, C1, ...., Cm) for the occurrence of any of a plurality of predetermined conditions. The memory circuit includes an array of memory cells (34, 53) (each cell storing data (Ii; Klm) determining a value of a breakpoint condition of interest), and selected ones of the cells can be read in response to various combinations of the signal bits. The accessed data value is used as a breakpoint signal that halts or initiates operation of the circuit (20) originating the signals being monitored. An alternative embodiment may have multiple memory circuits (41, 42; 60, 61) monitoring distinct sets of signal bits for different conditions of interest, and the corresponding accessed data values may be combined by logic gates (43) or used as inputs to a second-stage memory circuit (62) to generate the breakpoint signal (Kij; Lm).

L'invention concerne une unité de détection des point de rupture, qui comporte un circuit de mémoire (30, 50) contrôlant des signaux numériques (B¿1?, ....., B¿n?, C¿1?, ...., C¿m?) pour déceler les occurrences d'un état quelconque parmi plusieurs états prédéterminés. Le circuit de mémoire a une série de cellules de mémoire (34, 53) (chacune enregistre les données (I¿i?; K¿lm?) déterminant une valeur d'état de point de rupture prédéfinie). On peut lire telle ou telle cellule en réaction à différentes combinaisons des bits de signaux. Les valeurs des données auxquelles on accède ainsi constituent des signaux de point de rupture interrompant ou lançant le fonctionnement du circuit (20) qui fournit les signaux contrôlés. Selon une variante, plusieurs circuits de mémoire (41, 42; 60, 61) contrôlent des séries distinctes de signaux de bits, par rapport à différents états prédéfinis et, ensuite, il est possible de combiner via des portes logiques (43) les valeurs des données correspondantes auxquelles on accède ainsi, ou d'utiliser ces valeurs comme valeurs d'entrée dans un circuit de mémoire d'étage secondaire (62), afin d'engendrer le signal de point de rupture (K¿ij?; L¿m?).
