The invention relates to a high performance catalyst containing a layer on an inert carrier body comprising noble metals from the platinum group deposited on support materials. The catalyst is characterised in that, the layer comprises platinum deposited in a washcoat consisting of Al203 which is stabilized with lanthana (La2O3), ceria (CeO2), which is stabilized with zirconia (ZrO2) and praseodymium (Pr6O11). The supprot is promoted by sulfur- containing compounds which come from at least one of following compounds: platinum sulfite (PtSO3), sulfuric acid (H2SO4), ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4), titanium oxysulfate (TiOSO4), titanium sulfate (Ti2(SO4)3), and zirconium sulfate (Zr(SO4)2).

L'invention concerne un catalyseur très performant, comprenant une couche déposée sur un corps de support inerte comportant des métaux nobles choisis dans le groupe du platine et déposés sur les matériaux de support. Ce catalyseur est caractérisé en ce que la couche comprend du platine déposé dans une couche à surface active se composant d'Al¿2?O¿3? stabilisé au moyen de lanthanes (La¿2?O¿3?), de cériums (CeO¿2?) stabilisés au moyen de zirconiums (ZrO¿2?) et de praséodyme (Pr¿6?O¿11?). Le support est catalysé par des composés contenant du soufre, lesquels proviennent d'au moins l'un des groupes suivants: sulfite de platine (PtSO¿3?), acide sulfurique (H¿2?SO¿4?), sulfate d'ammonium ((NH¿4?)¿2?SO¿4?), oxysulfate de titane (TiOSO¿4?), sulfate de titane (Ti¿2?(SO¿4?)¿3?), et sulfate de zirconium (Zr(SO¿4?)¿2?).
