A new formulation with antibacterial and antifungal properties has been developed for use in treating tree taps, the harvested sap, and optionally the tubing and containers used to harvest and carry sap. The formulation may include one or more aminoglycosides, such as agricultural streptomycin and/or kasugamycin. When prepared in liquid form, the formulation, in this invention procedure, may be used in solid or liquid form with an absorbent and deformable carrier, such as a sponge, which is soaked with the solution and inserted in a tree tap after tapping. The carrier is removed with tongs when the sap has stopped running. Alternatively the formulation may be sprayed.
Il est divulgué une nouvelle composition ayant des activités antibactérienne et antifongique et son utilisation pour traiter des entailles d'arbres, la sève récoltée et optionnellement les tubulures et récipients servant à récolter et véhiculer la sève. La composition pourra comprendre un ou des aminosides, telles que la streptomycine agricole et/ou la kasugamycine. Lorsque préparée sous forme liquide, la composition pourra être administrée, selon la méthode de la présente invention, sous forme solide ou sous forme liquide à l'aide d'une matrice absorbante et déformable, telle qu'une éponge, imbibée de la solution et insérée dans l'entaille d'un arbre suite à son entaillage, ou par pulvérisation. La matrice est ensuite être retirée à l'aide d'une pince à la fin de l'écoulement de la sève.
