Disclosed are a diagnostic agent for mesothelioma and others which can achieve the discrimination between a normal person and a mesothelioma patient, the screening of a mesothelioma patient from persons who have experienced the exposure to asbestos, the discrimination between a mesothelioma patient and a patient having other disease such as lung cancer or the like, and so on effectively at a higher sensitivity compared to the previously-reported mesothelioma diagnosis kit and the like. Specifically disclosed is a diagnostic agent for mesothelioma, which comprises, as an active ingredient, an antibody capable of recognizing a N-terminal fragment of a fragment produced by allowing a blood containing 31 kDa secreted Erc/MPF/mesothelin or a serum containing 31 kDa secreted Erc/MPF/mesothelin to stand at room temperature for 3 hours or longer.
