Reduction of moisture in harvested crop particles, such as corn and soy beans. Waste heat from an internal engine (23) carried by a harvester is applied to the crop during the harvesting process. Microwave energy (85) is applied to the crop, concurrently with application of the heat, or separately from the crop. The objective is to reduce the moisture to a level acceptable to a storage facility, or at least to reduce the cost of further reduction.
