A long life, low pressure drop, cyst reduction water filter includes two active layers, the first comprising a non-woven fiber layer of nominal submicron porosity that retains cysts, but provides a good flow rate, and an upstream protective layer of a different non-woven fiber layer that captures particulates which would otherwise overwhelm and plug the cyst reduction layer.

L'invention concerne un filtre à eau destiné à réduire la quantité de cystes, à faible chute de pression et à longue durée de vie qui comprend deux couches actives, la première comportant une couche de fibre non tissée à porosité nominale submicronique qui retient les cystes, mais qui offre un bon débit, et une couche amont de protection d'une couche de fibre non tissée différente qui capture les particules qui viendraient autrement surcharger et obstruer la couche destinée à réduire la quantité de cystes dans l'eau.
