DMR02/6/91 PATENT 0122M Docket 90A225-2 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a cryogen delivery apparatus for delivering measured amounts of a cryogen in pure liquid and gaseous forms and/or for delivering a flowing cryogen with a regulated cooling potential. The apparatus includes a pressure vessel in which the cryogen is received and a liquid-vapor interface is maintained so that a gaseous form of the cryogen having a low cooling potential is situated above the liquid-vapor interface and a liquid form of the cryogen having a high cooling potential is situated below the liquid-vapor interface. An outlet conduit for delivering the gaseous and liquid forms of the cryogen from the pressure vessel is provided with a moveable end section that is actuated to move above and below the liquid-vapor interface to respectively deliver the cryogen in its pure gaseous and liquid forms and/or is oscillated above and below the liquid-vapor interface to deliver the cryogen as a two phase flow. A timing control circuit is provided to selectively regulate the time intervals that the moveable end section is above and below the liquid-vapor interface to meter the amounts of the gaseous and liquid forms of the cryogen that are delivered and/or the time intervals that the moveable end section is above and below the liquid-vapor interface during each period of oscillation to regulate the cooling potential contained within the two phase flow.
