RNA interference using small interfering RNAs which are specific for mRNA produced from the JCV agnoprotein and large T antigen genes inhibits expression of these and other primate polyomavirus genes. Primate polyomavirus infection, and diseases which are associated with primate polyomavirus infection, can be treated by administering the small interfering RNAs.

L'invention concerne l'interférence par ARN, au moyen de petits ARN interférents qui sont propres à ARNm fabriqué à partir de l'agnoprotéine JCV et de grands gènes d'antigène T, qui inhibe l'expression de ceux-ci et d'autres gènes du virus de polyome primate. L'infection due au virus du polyome primate et d'autres maladies associées à cette infection peuvent être traitées par administration de petits ARN interférents.
