The present invention relates to a plastics screw cap for the closure of a plastics container. In order to provide a closure, and in particular a plastics screw cap, for the closure of a container made of plastics, which has a simple configuration similar to corresponding closures for metal containers, but nevertheless ensures stable and sealed seating of the closure on the container opening, it is proposed according to the invention that the screw cap is provided with an extension extending radially over the side of the screw cap (3) and/or from a ring-pull (4) arranged on the cap, which is made from a material which can welded to the material from which the container lid, in which the closure is arranged, is made.
