Context-adaptive variable length coding (CAVLC) for scalable video coding (SVC) coarse granular scalability (CGS) enhancement layer coding that utilizes the number of coefficients larger than one (NLrg1) as a syntax element. The coding of coeff_token is based on TotalCoeff and NLrg1 values. Levels are adaptively encoded based on NLrg1 syntax element total_zeros is encoded by adaptively selecting VLC tables based on an estimated number of a neighboring blocks' total_zeros.

L'invention concerne le codage à longueur variable à contexte adaptatif (CAVLC) s'appliquant au codage de couches de renforcement à échelonnabilité granulaire approximative (CGS) par codage vidéo échelonnable SVC) qui utilise le nombre de coefficients supérieur à un (NLrg1) comme élément de syntaxe. Le codage de la valeur coeff_token est basé sur les valeurs TotalCoeff et NLrg1. Des valeurs de niveau sont codées de manière adaptative sur la base de l'élément de syntaxe (NLrg1). La valeur total_zeros est codée par sélection adaptative de tables de codage à longueur variable (VLC) sur la base d'un nombre estimé d'une valeur total_zeros des blocs voisins.
